FERRER QUALIFIES
Berdych and González, who threatened Ferrer’s sixth position in 2007 ATP Race to Shanghai, both fell in Basel QF’s.
Done. “It’s like a dream come true”. The Valencia resident is happy for qualifying for the last competition of the year. The last tournament, the one which is in every player’s mind. The one who rounds up the best eight players of the year.
Playing in Shanghai means you’ve got an extraordinary season. That’s exactly what Ferrer thinks. “It’s been my best season ever and it’s going to be great to compete in Shaghai as one of the best top players”. Ferrer son three titles –Tokyo, Auckland and Bastad- and reached US Open semifinals.
It’s been 425 points that assured him the sixth ticket to Shanghai and his own Terracot warrior. David Ferrer knew about his qualification while having dinner last Saturday. He joins Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Davydenko and Roddick.
The last two seats are to be given in Paris. That’s why so many players are going to try to do their best there. This intense fight will face 9 players who still have the chance to qualify.
They are: Fernando González, Tommy Haas, Tommy Robredo, James Blake, Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych, Rischard Gasquet, Carlos Moyá and Ivan Ljubicic.
The final result: next Sunday.
