NADAL, GOLD MEDAL OF MADRID

Nadal becomes the second tennis player, after Manolo Santana, to receive this honour.


Madrid, October 15th. Rafael Nadal received today the Gold Medal of Madrid, as a recognition to his support for the Madrid Olympic candidacy, and for the growth and development of the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid.

Nadal, second favourite to the eighth ATP Master Series of the season, succeeds Manolo Santana, who also received this medal five years ago from the previous Madrid mayor, José María Alvarez del Manzano.

Before the Gold Medal presentation, a video in which Manolo Santana, Pau Gasol, Fernando Alonso y Raul Gonzalez praised Nadal’s figure and his sports spirit, was proyected.
