LOOKING FOR QUALIFICATION
Top seed David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo take advantage of the last tournaments of the season to obtain the punctuation they need to play in Shanghai. Tokyo Open and Metz Open finish on 10th October.
As the season goes on, players try not to get tired and achieve the aims they stablished at the beginning of the year. Spaniard David Ferrer did not expect to get to the sixth position in the ATP Race, and now is trying to play his first Tennis Masters Cup and willing to play in his country, next 15th in Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid.
After Roger Federer’s withdrawal, Ferrer became into top-seeded player in the Tokyo Open, followed by Tomas Berdych and Richard Gasquet. Fernando Verdasco and Feliciando López will try to do their best after their performance in Bangkok last week. Tursunov, Thailand Open winner, moved 6 places upward in the ranking due to his victory in Bangkok and is looking to go on improving.
The French city Metz hosts another tournament, and the Spaniard Tommy Robredo, who moved to second round, is the main favourite to win the title although his first match was tough and he managed to survive two match points after a 4-6, 7-6(9). Guillermo Cañas, Nicolas Mahut, Philippe Kohlschreiber and Simon Gilles will also fight for the title, the prize and... the punctuation.
