TOMMY HAAS, OUT OF SHANGAI

The German, currently no. 9 in the ATP 2007 Race, lost his chances to qualify for Tennis Masters Cup Shangai by losing his third-round match at Thailand Open.

French Nicolas Mahut knocked out no. 4 seed player in the tournament, Tommy Haas, with a 6-4, 6-4 fast victory surprising the crowd. The German, who was looking for getting as much ATP points as possible, sees now how his chances are over –he won’t be playing in Shanghai as one the eight best players of the season.

Mahut will next face the Spaniard Verdasco to fight for a place in Bangkok semifinals. At the moment, the only player qualified for the semis is the Russian Tursunov, who defeated Wang of Taipei.

Meanwhile, Berdych goes through as one of the favourites and overcomes the German Zverev after a 6-1, 6-4 match.
