US OPEN: Ready for semifinals

Ferrer goes through his good patch while Djokovic sees off Moyá. Regarding female’s draw, Henin’s waiting for Venus Williams –they haven’t met since the 2003 Australian Open semifinals.

“I'm trying to really focus and not irritate anybody... sorry if I'm a bit annoying. The thing is, I want to stay longer on this court", said Novak Djokovic after beating No.17 seed Carlos Moyá quite easily.

Throughout the match the Serb player felt softer on the court and it only took for him 3 sets to overcome the Spaniard (6-4, 7-6 (7), 6-1). “It was not my best match at all. I didn’t serve properly, and he did. I’ve lost against a very good player”.

In the meanwhile, things turned better for David Ferrer, now in semifinals having won the player from Argentina Ignacio Chela (6-2, 6-3, 7-5). The last three matches [against Nalbandián, Rafael Nadal and Chela] have been my best tennis," Ferrer said. "For me, it's unbelievable."

The US Open will count on a very exciting female semifinal too, where world No.1 Justine Henin will meet Venus Williams. “We play different, even though we're both very powerful”, said the Belgium player. On the other hand, Venus Williams shows serenity saying: “I think she’s definitely improved, but I feel like I’ve seen her play quite a lot. I feel like I know what to expect”.
