US OPEN: NADAL PASSES 3RD ROUND
World no.2 Rafael Nadal dispels every doubt about his left-knee tendonitis overcoming the French tennis-player Tsonga (7-6 (3), 6-2 y 6-1).
The daily struggle since last Sunday with the injuries on his knee now seems to get through. That’s what public on Billie Jean King’s court saw the last day. “Yesterday I have pain. When I go to practice I stop practice for the knee, but today I felt better, not 100%, but better”.
Tsonga’s impatience and several unforced errors left France with no players on the second week of the year's final Grand Slam. Nadal imposed his authoriry as the second best player in the world. The Spaniard edged ahead in the tie-break, claiming it, 4-7, with an out-wide serve that overpassed his talented French opponent. Next up for Nadal will be No. 15-seeded countryman David Ferrer.
