BASTAD: FERRER WINS

David Ferrer defeated other Spaniard in the Bastad final, Nicolas Almagro. He won his second title this year

www.atptennis.com World No. 15 David Ferrer became the third Spaniard in three years to win the Catella Swedish Open with a bruising 6-1, 6-2 win over countryman Nicolas Almagro in a sold-out Bastad final Sunday. It was the first all-Spanish Bastad final of the Open era (since 1968).

Ferrer's victories followed the recent title runs of Tommy Robredo in 2006, Rafael Nadal in 2005 and Carlos Moya in 2002.

Ferrer was in devastating form throughout the tournament, winning four of his five matches for the loss of three games or less. He was tested only in the second round when taken to three sets by Chilean Nicolas Massu.
