Spaniard will play against Roger Federer. Nadal defeated Soderling after a five – days match


www.atptennis.com Rafael Nadal finally won his epic encounter over Robin Soderling of Sweden to take his place in the Wimbledon fourth round on Wednesday.

Resuming at 4-4 in the fifth set on Court One, the World No. 2 put Soderling under immense pressure in the 12th game and eventually converted his sixth match point for a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(7), 4-6, 7-5 victory in four hours and one minute.

Nadal and Soderling first attempted to start their third round clash on Saturday, but were thwarted by rain.
The pair returned on Monday, when Nadal squandered one match point at 7-6 in the third set tie-break. Soderling managed to fight his way back into contention at two sets apiece, and at the close of play that night trailed Nadal 2-0 in the fifth set. Further rain delays on Tuesday, limited the pair to just six games.
The 21-year-old Nadal, who finished runner-up to Roger Federer in last year’s final, will next meet Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in the last eight.
