BARCELONA: NADAL ADVANCES

Spaniard won belgian Vliegen in two sets without problems. His next rival will be the winner of Soderling – Johansson match

www.openseatgodo.com Carlos Moya set up a blockbuster third-round meeting with fourth seed David Nalbandian after rallying from a set down to defeat close friend and fellow Spanish veteran Felix Mantilla 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the Open Seat 2007 Wednesday. Mantilla fought bravely to stay with Moya in the battle of the former Barcelona champions. He faced 22 break points in all, but dropped serve just five times.

Moya, who won the title here in 2003, has reached two finals in 2007 (Sydney and Acapulco). The former World No. 1 is tied with Nalbandian at 2-2 in their head-to-head series (all on clay). Moya won their last meeting in three sets in Rome in 2004.

Second seed Nikolay Davydenko, a 2005 Barcelona semifinalist, claimed his first win of the clay court season with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory over fellow Russian, qualifier Yuri Schukin. The World No. 4 will now attempt to reach an ATP quarterfinal for the first time in five tournaments when he plays Italian Filippo Volandri, a 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1 winner over 14th seed and Valencia champion Nicolas Almagro (pictured).

Eighth seed Juan Ignacio Chela claimed his 22nd match win of the season with a 6-3, 6-3 win over American Vince Spadea. The Argentine next faces Italian Potito Starace, who defeated countryman Simone Bolelli 6-4, 6-3.
