Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid shows its solidarity with the Day against Breast Cancer.

Ball boys and girls will wear a pink bracelet, simbol of the fight against this illness, during the evening match between Nadal and Haas scheduled for 20:00h, and a point will be played with a ball of the same colour.


Madrid, 19th of October 2006, Mutua Mdrileña Masters Madrid, taking place between the 14th and the 22nd of October in the premises of Recinto Ferial Casa de Campo, joins the fight against breast cancer during the celebration of the Day against Breast Cancer held today 19th of October.

During the day, ball boys and girls will intervene in the corresponding third round matches with a pink bracelet.

On the other hand and immediately after the most important match of the day between Nadal and Haas at 20:00h ends, the winner will play a point with a pink ball.

As a means of celebrating the Day against Breast Cancer, the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) and the remaining organizations of patients have highlighted that this type of tumour can be detected on time: "Through a mammography you see life" is the slogan used by this association for the event.

Furthermore, the idea that an early diagnosis is nowadays the best solution for patients is stressed. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a breast cancer is detected every 30 seconds somewhere in the world.

In Spain, almost 16.000 new cases are detected every year. Campaigns for early detection, mammography programs and the increasing ageing of the population have got very much to do with it.
