The Rivalry: Roger Federer vs David Nalbandian

Roger Federer and David Nalbandian have been fierce rivals since their junior days. The vast majority of their epic battles have come on the biggest stages in world tennis.

Ten of their 11 professional meetings have come either at Grand Slam tournaments or at ATP Masters Series level.

Nalbandian is one of few players to hold a winning record against the all-conquering Federer. The Argentine won their first five meetings and, helped by a dramatic fifth-set tie-break win in last year’s Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai final, maintains a 6-5 career edge.

But ATP World No. 1 Federer has the chance Friday to even the ledger when the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds meet in the Roland Garros semifinals. Federer is attempting to reach his 14th consecutive final and – ultimately – become just the third player in history to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time.
