Federer and Nalbandian, semifinalists in Shangai

David Nalbandian won Ivan Ljubicic unexpectedly. Croatian won’t play semifinals. Federer won his third match against Argentine Guillermo Coria

Argentine David Nalbandian flattened an off-color Ivan Ljubicic 6-2, 6-2 Thursday to join Roger Federer and Nikolay Davydenko in the semifinals of the Tennis Masters Cup 2005.

After an heroic indoor autumn in which he won two titles and reached finals at the consecutive Masters Series tournaments in Madrid and Paris, Croatia's Ljubicic ran out of steam at precisely the wrong moment.

World No. 1 Roger Federer improved his round robin record at Tennis Masters Cups events to a perfect 12-0 with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-2 win over Argentine Guillermo Coria. The Swiss also notched his 34th consecutive win.
