Pierce and Davenport already are in the semi-finals of the female Masters

The Belgian Kim Clijsters has not had a good beginning. She has lost the two first matches against M. Pierce and A. Mauresmo what complicates her to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Madrid, November 10th, 2005. The second day of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Championships has left two players classified for the semi-finals of the tournament. The French M. Pierce and L. Davenport have won the two matches played up to now. Pierce defeated in the first day one of the favourites, the Belgian K. Clijster. In the second day, she did not give any options to the Russian E.Dementieva.

L. Davenport did not suffer to win neither the first match to the Russian N. Petrova nor the second to the Swiss Patty Schnider. Davenport leads her group at present with two victories. The Russian M. Sharapova continues with a victory set against P. Schnider but also with a defeat.

The Belgian K.Clijster has been the main surprise of the tournament after losing the two first matches that left her with a difficulty to reach a position in the semi-final.
