Madrid, October 17th, 2005 – Around one thousand kids from different schools in Madrid have filled the court with their presence and the seats with atmosphere in the Madrid Arena during this first day of the first round of the Masters Series Madrid. “We are having real fun. Who can imagine anything better for kids than spending a day out of school watching tennis”, said Nerea Sáenz, teacher at The English Montessori School, who has highlighted the role of the Masters Series Madrid in this promotion: “The organization has made it easy for us at all times, providing us with continuous information”. Nerea and eight more teachers have taken care of 148 kids who have seen from their seats the giant tennis balls and have then been allowed to pick them up in the stands of the Pabellón de Cristal. Albert Costa has been encouraged by the kids in the first morning match. However, they have divided their applause between Juan Ignacio Chela and Nicolás Massú in this exciting duel. “They are behaving themselves and learning quite a lot of tennis”, said Pedro Sánchez, PE teacher at the school Colegio Real Armada who has taken care, together with three more teachers, of 62 kids who took advantage of breaks to talk among themselves and run all over the place. This immense presence of school kids -which will be constant in the following days- has been made possible thanks to the promotion “Learning on the courts” launched by the tournament’s organization and which has been warmly received in Madrid’s schools. |
