Nadal: “I want to culminate the season with a good result in Madrid”

The world number two trained yesterday in the Madrid Arena court.
Moyá, Feliciano and Costa start practising today.


Madrid, 15th of October, 2005 – The world number two Rafa Nadal showed himself relaxed and optimistic yesterday after his first training session in the Madrid Arena court, from 5 to 7 in the afternoon.

“I feel OK. I’ve been training for three weeks in Mallorca and I feel Ok”, said the first seeded of the Masters Series Madrid, who finished his session with a great variety of winners.

“I want to culminate the season with a good result in Madrid, at least playing well. I want to improve my past results here”, said the confident Nadal, in great shape during the two hours of training. This will be his third participation en the Masters Series Madrid. In 2003 he lost against Álex Corretja in first round and last year he lost against Vincent Spadea in second round.

The public is very eager to watch the tennis sensation of the moment and the stands will be full capacity when he plays. "I don't know if it's my fault that more people is coming this year, but anyway it's good for the tournament. I really like the Madrid Arena Court and the atmosphere", expressed Nadal, winner of ten titles in 2005 (three ATP Masters Series among them).

The 19 years old player trains also today, from 4 to 5 in the afternoo with Carlos Moyá and from 5 to 6 with another countrymate, the tenth seeded in Madrid David Ferrer. At night he will go to the Vicente Calderón stadium to watch the Spanish League football match between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid.

Albert Costa, Feliciano López (who lost in Vienna quarterfinals) and Nicolás Massú are another today novelties in the practise courts.
