Madrid, 7th of September, 2005 - The organization of the Masters Series Madrid introduces today to Telefónica, as the sponsor of the tournament. The integrated operator of telecommunications is added to the list of the main sponsors of the tournament. The Masters Series Madrid will receive the best tennis players of the world in the Madrid Arena from the 15th to the 23rd of October. The Ayuntamiento of Madrid as well as the businesses Mercedes Benz, Telefónica, NH Hoteles, Air Europa, Lacoste, Indesit, ISS, Hugo Boss, Quijote, Adecco, Schweppes, Mahou, Penn and Waterford Cristal, repeat their support to the tournament. To the new list of the family of the Masters have to be added this year the Spanish companies Prosegur and Master Cadena. Rolex and Ricoh have also to be added at international level. Telefónica is the second integrated operator of telecommunications of the world, which is situated in 17 countries and has a client base of more than 145 million accesses. As one of the first companies in each one of the countries where the company operates, participates of an institutional way in numerous activities of the society through sponsorships in the cultural, social and sports environments. Telefónica develops since years ago a global strategy of sports sponsorships with the endorsement to young sportsmen with vocation, eagerness of beating and willpower. These characteristics coincide with the business values of the company: leadership, innovation, proximity and commitment. The Masters Series Madrid is part of the ATP Masters Series, the elite group constituted by the nine most important tournaments of the professional calendar. This category corresponds to the prizes and points to be distributed and that assures the list of the best players of the world. Three number ones of the world are included in the list of champions: Andre Agassi (2002), Juan Carlos Ferrero (2003) and Marat Safin (2004). |
