Madrid, 7th of September of 2005. The defeat of Fernando Verdasco by Jarko Nieminen left the fourth Grand Slam of the season without Spanish representation. The Spanish has assumed that he lost the match. This result was due to his bad play and not to the successes of the Finnish. Nieminen did not have too many problems to reach the victory. He clearly dominated the first and the third set and in the second the luck was put on his side. He achieved to pass to quarters for 6-2, 7-6 (6) and 6-3. In the following round Nieminen will face the Australian L. Hewitt. Roger Federer number 1 of the world, will face the Argentine David Nalbandian, André Agassi will face his compatriot James Blake, and Guillermo Coria will meet the third American that continues alive in the tournament, R. Ginepri. |
