STEPANEK: FEDERER’S RIVAL
The Czech player easily disposed of Juan Monaco with a strong straight-sets performance, winning 6-1 6-1.
The Swiss player, Roger Federer already knows who he will play in his first match in the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid, which takes place in the Casa de Campo Trade Fair Park. Radek Stepanek, who defeated the Argentine Juan Monaco in the first round, 6-1 6-1, will be Federer´s first opponent.This victory was easier to achieve than Stepanek had predicted. The Czech is aiming to reach the final sixteen in Madrid for the second time in his career, the first being in 2005 when he reached the quarter-finals before loosing to Nadal. It will not be easy for Stepanek to achieve his desired feat, as he will face the mighty Roger Federer. The Swiss sensation is set to appear in Madrid after his triumph in the US Open and wants his recent success to continue to the end of the year, which he started off inconsistently. The Swiss player has beaten Stepanek in five out of seven encounters. Although, the Czech beat Federer in Rome this year in two tight tie-breaks. |
