ROGER FEDERER IS BACK IN MADRID
The Swiss tennis player confirmed today his attendance at the eminent Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid 2008 starting next Saturday 11th October. “We are delighted that Roger Federer has confirmed his attendence at this year´s event.¨
Madrid, 9th October, 2008. The Swiss tennis player Roger Federer confirmed today his attendance at the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid taking place from Saturday 11th-19th October in the Casa de Campo Trade Fair Park. “We are delighted that Roger Federer has confirmed his attendence at this year´s event. He’s a great champion and undoubtedly one of the favourites for the title” said Manolo Santana, director of the tournament. Federer is due to arrive in Madrid next Saturday, and is scheduled to train at the courts at 3 pm. The current world no. 2 won the Madrid title in 2006 and was runner-up in 2007 (defeated by David Nalbandian). “Madrid conditions and the court surface are suited to the way Federer plays. I hope he is 100% in shape so that we can enjoy his best tennis,” Santana said. Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid starts next Saturday 11th October with the preliminary round. The ATP will reveal the final player entry list tomorrow (Friday 9th) at 6pm. Then, the tournament organization will announce the ‘wild cards’ for both the final draw and the preliminary rounds. The final draw is also taking place on Saturday with Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer in the Central Court (at 1 pm), and the final draw matches will be taking place on Sunday, as well as the last round of the qualifiers.
