The tennis from Manacor gets the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports 2008


Madrid, September 3rd, 2008. As it could not be otherwise, Rafael Nadal in his year unforgettable, get an award. This time the recognition has not been publicly that filled the stands of any tournament. Now they have elected members of the jury's prestigious Prince of Asturias Award. The tennis world number one was imposed on American swimmer Michael Phelps after achieving a vote of 18 of the 24 jurors in the last vote.

The prize is endowed with 50,000 euros, sculpture created and donated by Joan Miro expressly for these awards, a diploma and insignia evidence. Nadal will wear gala next October at the Teatro Campoamor Oviedo, to receive the award from the hands of Don Felipe de Borbon.
