MOYA Y VERDASCO PASS TO 2nd ROUND

The two Spanish tennis players won their matches, while Robredo says bye

Madrid, July 30th, 2008. The Majorcan tennis player, Carlos Moya, and Fernando Verdasco managed two victories against the Serbian Janko Tipsarevic (7-6 (5) and 7-5) and the Dominican Victor Estrella (6-3 and 7-5), respectively. The sad note of the day was for the Catalan player, Tommy Robredo, who lost his second round match against Swedish Robin Soderling (7-6 (6) and 6-4).

Roger Federer had a scare in their first match in the Cincinnati Masters Series. The current world number one suffered more than expected in his confrontation with Robby Ginepri, who, having taken the first set, came to serve in the second to win the match. That's when the Swiss brought to light all his experience and won the tie-break of the second set and resolved with a duel 6-0 in the third to end the final score of (6-7, 7-6, 6 -0) that gave the pass to the next round. The Basel will face Ivo Karlovic (16) that defeated the Argentine Jose Acasuso 6-3 and by 7-6 (3).
