SAFIN BEATS MARC LOPEZ IN BASTAD
The Russian starts well in Bastad (Sweden) after reaching semi-finals at Wimbledon
 Madrid, 9th of July, 2008. Marat Safin has begun the Bastad tournament, which takes place on clay in Sweden with a victory over the Spanish Marc Lopez with a final score 7-6 (6) and 7-5 after two hours and twenty minutes on the track. The Russian arrives in Scandinavian lands after playing a big tournament at Wimbledon, remember that he played against Federer in the semi-finals. Now he will play his next match against the Italian Potito Starace who eliminated the Spanish Carlos Moya in three sets by 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6) and 6-4, sixth time this season in which the Balearic bids farewell to a tournament without exceeding the preliminary round.
